Friday Departure Update!

Good morning, grant cohort!

And thanks to Susan for setting up this blog for us to use to communicate re our upcoming adventure in China.

Last minute suggestions from Li-Hua: pack lightly (remember we have no place to store luggage on our train trip from Xi'an to Beijing and our luggage will be with us in the sleeping compartment!); weather should be like it is in Chicago now or even a little cooler; leave a copy of our itinerary and your passport with family/friends; don't bring laptop since we will find cybercafes there; arrive at the airport 3 hours prior to our 10:30 flight; for pickups on our return, we arrive at O'Hare's International airport.

Also feel free to email Li-Hua directly with any questions.

48 hours to China!

Ni-hao from China, colleagues!

Yes, we are wide awake and ready to go on this early morning (7am) in Shanghai on Monday, October 13th.

For you back home, it is still Sunday, around 6pm! Wild.

Yesterday was a full day of touring: the Yu Yuan Gardens (incredible) the markets, the parks.

China is everything and MORE.

Today we visit the Shanghai Art Museum and tour the city again, then off to the airport and our next stop, Xi'an.

Weather here is sunny and about 70 degrees.

We are all having a great time!
